Today, I had the honor of standing beside something much bigger than myself.
I met up with JaPharii from the BLM757 group to give out meals to people in our community through #TheBigGiveBack757, and I can honestly say I will never be the same after today.
What started as just showing up to help… turned into something that settled deep in my spirit.
I delivered meals to a mother and her two incredibly beautiful little girls. I don’t think she realized how powerful her smile was. It was tired. It was grateful. It was real. She held those plates like they were treasure, and in that moment — they were.
Then there was a grandmother who wanted to bless the neighborhood kids. Not herself. Not her own needs. She wanted the food so she could share it. That right there? That shifted something in me. Even needing help, she was focused on giving.
But the last delivery… that one broke me.
I delivered my last five plates to people experiencing homelessness here in Portsmouth. They have nothing. No warmth. No stable place to rest. No guarantees of their next meal. And that one plate of food meant everything.
Their hands shook. Their eyes carried stories I’ll never fully understand. And I went back to my car with tears running down my face.
This is what the heart of YUMYUMRUNNER™ is really about.
Not just delivery.
Not just tech.
Not just platforms.
It’s about people.
Today wasn’t just one area of the 757 either. We reached people on both sides of the water — and the unity in that? It was powerful. It proved something I’ve believed for a long time: when we pull together, this community is unstoppable.
Seeing organizations and people come together like this is exactly what I dream of building with YUMYUMRUNNER™ — not a company, but a movement.
I’m forever grateful I got to be part of this. And I can’t wait to keep showing up, serving, helping, and loving this community the way it deserves.
This is only the beginning.
